FTF 1.3.17

This is the scene from the window of my plane.... as I left Denver, headed for San Diego, this week.

That's a frame full of winter that you are looking at.

20 some odd degrees and snowing.... as viewed thru the ice on the window.

We were waiting in line for our turn at the de-icing station.... with 8 ahead of us.

All turned out well though, as the plane flew as we hoped it would and we arrived in sunny and warm San Diego.... late but safe, sound and smiling.

FTF 2.3.17

This, the Secondhand Street Band.... was the other band that we saw on Royal St.

It was actually the one that caught our attention.... and reminded us that that goes on on Sundays.

Mostly a bunch of skinny white boys.... but they were wailing a very credible and very bluesy version of Minnie the Moocher.

A long and passionate version with a number of fine instrumental breaks.... and some very strong vocals.

Lydia says the lead singer (and also trombone player).... reminds her of Sean.

FTF 2.2.17

On Sunday afternoons in New Orleans.... it's Royal St that gets closed and turned into a pedestrian mall.

Royal is just a block over from the infamous Bourbon St.

On Sunday afternoons.... It becomes the haven of the buskers and the musiscians.

This is Doreen.... over world renowned "Doreen's Jazz" fame.

As you can see, she can really wail on that clarinet.... and very much enjoys herself while doing that and singing too.

I shot this one using my iPhone 7+.

I need to get better about the settings on the ProCam app that I am using there.... as this one came out a little soft.

And I will bet you it was from not being all the way on auto and controlling both the Aperture and the Shutter.

FTF 2.1.17

It is one of my favorite ways to "fill the frame".... taking pixtures in a vase of flowers.

I have, in the past, shot a whole week in the same vase of flowers.

This particular shot was taken with my iPhone.... it's so easy to do that it almost feels like cheating. 

But I think to get the full fun from this.... I need to break out the big camera and tripod.

And give some good thought to how I use the light.

A project for the "post retirement" list for sure.... if not sooner.
